Voice of Elijah- Talk-about THURSDAY, 1 July 2021 Elijah 7,000 / 456 rainmakers
2Cor 11:2 “I am jealous for you with a godly jealousy. I promised you to one husband, to Christ, so that I might present you as a pure virgin to him.
Ex 20:1-6, Deut 4:1-24 “For the LORD your God is a consuming fire, a jealous God”
(1.) Because God is jealous, we too then need to be zealous for Him.
(2.) There is always a battle in our hearts- the battle is not so much “out there” as its right here in our hearts – idols in our hearts?
(3.) God’s jealousy is demonstrated not just in the offense He takes at our idolatry as like the Israelites, but in his pursuit after them as He is now after our hearts. He would not let us run off with some lover; he relentlessly chases after you.
(4.) No matter what — the one true God will not give up without a fight. Jesus wins. In the end, every knee will bow.
(5.) God pursues us in our wandering, adulterous hearts, and His is an everlasting love that just won’t quit.
(5.) Check that there are no idols in our hearts, people, even our wives, our vocation, ministry, money, power pleasure, etc etc can easily take over our hearts.
Note to self: Idols are defeated not by being removed but by being replaced by being zealous for God himself (Wee Boon Choon)
