Editor’s note (Bernard Lim): “When the conditions for true repentance were fulfilled, the Lord promised them a list of blessing but what was more significant was that the people would ‘raise up the foundations of many generations’.

“We do not realise that we cannot afford to live hypocritical lives – a form of godliness (praying and fasting) but lacking the power (overcoming sin, freedom from oppressing others, etc). The way we live our lives will ultimately show whether or not the breaches on the walls have been repaired and the streets restored for many generations to come!

“Brothers, let us understand what true repentance mean…after prayer and fasting, to get up on our feet and also do the real work of finishing our assignment in redeeming this world before He comes advancing His kingdom ie, righteous, peace and joy in the Holy Ghost!” – B.L.

“Piety vs True fasting – is to break the chains of injustice, get rid of exploitation in the workplace, get rid of unfair practices, free the oppressed, cancel debts, quit blaming victims, stop gossiping, share food with the hungry, invite the homeless poor into your homes, give yourself to the down-and-out, put clothes on the shivering, be available to your own families. Then the Lord will respond to you and grant you continual health & restoration. You will be called, (v12) Repairer of the Breach, Restorer of the Streets to Dwell In; you shall raise up the foundations of many generations.” – Geoff Chew

“This is a fast of faith & demands response to the Word in us. A season of a lot of testing of faith to believe God is moving in ways that we do not see, to free people from bondages and slavery. Lord, may the fast of faith in us result in CHANGE FOR GOOD, show us and lead us.” – Paul Khoo
